Tools of The Driftpocalypse
For the third Icon Drift video, E-Dub and Nick Apex built themselves a pair of stretched and turbo’d 675R’s. The first Drift video featuring a ZX-10R demonstrated drifting with a 12-inch over swingarm. The longer the swingarm, the longer it takes for highside dynamics to kick in. But for the Triumph builds they went for 4 to 6-inch over swingarms. This gives a more violent snap, but the riders also get better feel of what the bike is doing, and according to Ernie “We could take the easy way out with longer swingarms, but the feel you get when the bikes talk back is what gives us the rush.” Seems like this video is going to be pretty crazy to watch…
Interestingly the bikes have stock engine internals. The bikes make 203hp running E85 fuel and 10psi boost. Even after being ridden hard for filming, the bikes didn’t break down - they’re parked & ready to fill newly acquired boost addictions.
Keep your eyes peeled on 2nd July.
